ARC Angels

The American Red Cross ARC Angels is a group of distinguished women in the community who financially support the American Red Cross and its endeavors through their membership. The group, formed in 1998, offers several levels of membership.

The group holds two events each year to raise funds for the chapter. The ARC Angels Luncheon & Fashion Show is held in the fall. The Wine & Cheese Party is another gathering to raise funds and increase membership by bringing in friends and family members to learn more about the American Red Cross endeavors and services to the community. This event is held  each spring.

2011 luncheon to feature ‘Miracle on the Hudson’ speaker
The purse is an icon for women and also for the philanthropic leadership women provide to the Louisiana Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.

The 2011 Power of the Purse Luncheon marks the 14th annual Red Cross women’s luncheon in Baton Rouge, and the second year of the charity purse auction. It’s a fun girl-time day, with a dynamic and vivacious group that has been known over the years as the “ARC Angels.”

Special guest will be Dave Sanderson, the inspirational speaker and survivor of the “Miracle on the Hudson.” Guests will enjoy Sanderson’s stirring presentation, “Brace for Impact,” as he shares the story of Flight 1549, revealing the inner strength it took to make it through the day, and how teamwork, leadership and state management can help overcome any obstacle.

This annual event provides support for our neighbors needing emergency relief across our 10-parish area, and promotes awareness of the Red Cross mission. It’s a celebration of that mission – empowering ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts in emergency situations – down the street, across the country, or around the world.

The Power of the Purse luncheon will be Sept. 22 at Boudreaux's, 2647 Government St., Baton Rouge. Register by calling (225) 291-4533. The program, which includes a style show, begins at noon; doors will open at 11 a.m. for the silent auction. Tickets are $30.
