Disaster Services
The American Red Cross of Acadiana responds to disasters every day. No matter
how big a disaster, the Red Cross responds to provide emergency assistance to
those affected.
Not only do we respond to disasters, we also prepare by offering community
disaster education and information.
The Red Cross works with the Federal Emergency Management Agency or
FEMA in the case of a disaster.
Disaster Action Team
The Disaster Action Team (DAT) is organized by our chapter to ensure trained
Red Corss volunteers can respond immediately to Single Family and Local Disasters
shortly after a disaster occurs. DATs provide immediate, identifiable emergency
services to those affected by disaster.
If you are interested in volunteering for our DAT go to the interactive
Red Cross Website: Introduction
to Disaster Services.
Then, sign up for Disaster Training Courses.
