Versatile and Intelligent midfielder or Center-back Javier Mascherano

Alejandro Mascherano, nicknamed “El Jefecito” (“The Little Chief”), was born in San Lorenzo, Argentina on June 8, 1984. Nevertheless, the young football player made his name on behalf of Argentina national football team

ahead of his debut in club River Plate. At the moment River Plate won the 2003–04 Clausura championship, he also won his number one silverware. For his striking performances on football pitch, many football clubs like Real Madrid and Deportivo de La Coruña revealed their interest in signing the young football player. However, none of these clubs would like to pay enough money for the eminent football player.

For the football club River Plate, the 2004-05 season is a tough season for the club for the sake of bad performances in the Apertura Championship (finishing in third) and the Clausura (finishing in tenth). In addition, the club lost to Sao Paulo in the semi-finals of Copa Libertadores. After this period, Alejandro Mascherano moved to Brazilian club Corinthians from club River Plate for US$15 million. Unfortunately, shortly after joining into Corinthians in mid-season, he got injured in his left foot severely, missing the end of the season. In order to cure his fracture of his left football, he returned to Argentina for operation and recuperation from the Argentina national team’s doctor.

Six months later, the young football player returned to football pitch in March 2006. Despite of his standout performances, he declined many offers to other football clubs. But before the deadline of the 2006 transfer window, he signed with West Ham United for an undisclosed fee.
